FAQ: Your Franchise Questions Answered
What types of business can I buy?
A Master Regional Franchise (MRF) owns a ‘Region’ and represents Clean Planet with the divisional specific services in that region. This is a business with unlimited scalability that focuses on recruiting and supporting franchisee and business development. We have MRFs with up to 50 franchisees in their region. Income is derived from sharing the initial franchise fees and the ongoing royalty fees. There are also training, transfer and product fees.
An Individual Franchisee performs the service to our customers. They focus on providing a quality service and excellent customer experience. Income is made on every job you complete. Franchisees can utilise family members or hire staff to service more customers and grow their business
What are the different divisions at Clean Planet?
Commercial Cleaning. This is where Clean Planet started. Most jobs are completed outside normal business hours of 9am – 5pm. Customers have signed contracts for up to 3-year terms.
Domestic Cleaning. Many domestic jobs are for regular cleaning as well as one off jobs.
Grounds Care. Using our e-mowing equipment you’ll service both commercial and domestic customers. We use electric push and ride-on mowers with trimmers and blowers. Better for you and the environment and no fuel costs will save you at least $11,000pa. All work is completed during the day.
Car Valet. Turn your passion for well-presented vehicles into your business. This mobile service caters to commercial fleets and domestic customers. This new division has great potential.
How much does it cost to set up a franchise with Clean Planet?
Your investment depends on the type of franchise you are interested in, and the division (Commercial Cleaning, Domestic Cleaning, Grounds Care or Car Valet).
A Master Regional Franchise (MRF) investment is tailor made for your region and division. The investment is based on the expected earnings and scalability of the business. Talk to us about your specific region and division of interest.
A Franchise for Domestic Cleaning and Car Valet has a fixed initial fee (as little as $10,000). We focus on providing regular reoccurring jobs that are supplemented with one off jobs provided to you through our Telesales team and online booking forms.
For Commercial Cleaning and Grounds Care franchises your initial fee is based on the amount of revenue you want to earn each month. You can easily increase your income by purchasing more customers when you are ready to expand. Talk to us about what you would like to earn.

Our commercial division has been highly successful, we now have almost 200 franchisees and service 1,000 + clients.
We are projecting that our new divisions will be as successful. You will gain the benefit of the rapid growth in our new divisions. Now is the best time to join Clean Planet before regions are allocated and initial fees increase.
How long will it take to make a significant return on investment?
We’ll take you through comprehensive analysis of realistic, achievable earnings potential based on the type of franchise you want. Our breakeven Return on Investment is so much better than buying a business through a broker and we take away a lot of the risks. We have Master Regional Franchisee with revenue more than $2.5 million and many franchisees earning $40ph in their hand after franchisee fees and business costs. Talk to us about your earnings potential and required investment.
If I want to take leave, who will look after this business?
With 1 months’ notice, we will assist with arranging alternative franchisees or their teams to look after your clients whilst you are away – including introduction to your customers as appropriate.
What happens when I sell my franchise business?
Your franchise is a business you own, and you get the benefits when you sell it. You can sell your complete franchise or part of your franchise. The market will determine the value you will get for your business.
All Master Regional Franchisee and Individual Franchisee agreement set out the clear transfer fees payable to Clean Planet when you exit your franchise.
What if I do not have enough business skills at the required level?
Ongoing coaching and mentoring are provided on:

Templates and resources are available through your “online login”, depending on your type of Franchise.
Individual Franchisees have a dedicated Master Regional Franchisee or Regional Manager on hand to answer any questions you may have and to provide further support/training as required
We have annual training events in each region which ensure that you are performing optimally.
Are the legal documents just in favour of the franchisor?
Clean Planet is a member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand and we follow their guidelines for all documentation and processes. This means we are fair and transparent with our dealings with our franchisees and have many who have been with us for over 10 years.
Prior to signing your agreement we encourage you to seek legal advice. After signing the Franchise Agreement you have an obligation-free ‘Cooling off Period’ of 7 days agreement to change mind.
What business risks does Clean Planet reduce for me?
In today’s environment credit risk (customers not paying their bills) impacts your profit and cashflow. Clean Planet takes away this risk and guarantees you payment on every job you complete. Business factoring houses will charge you at least 10% of your revenue for this service. We’ll find you customers through our extensive marketing and process the administration and invoicing for you. Our franchisees appreciate this model so they can complete more jobs and spend quality time with their families. We don’t just provide you leads that you need to convert into customers, we provide you the customers.
Does Clean Planet continue to support with new customers after they get the franchise fee?
Clean Planet have very strong marketing and business development teams which generates new leads continuously: Facebook Advertising, Instagram, Trade Me, Mail drops, Website and Google AdWords.
What other fees will there be on an ongoing basis?
Our fees are based on providing you excellent business support.
Royalty fees of 16% (includes guaranteeing payment to you).
Technology and Marketing fees depending on the type of franchise you have.

Savina and Narend are one of Clean Planet’s South Auckland Commercial Franchisee owners. Originally from Fiji, this franchisee owner couple has been with Clean Planet for over 3 years.

While I was working at Clean Planet, I worked as a duty manager in one of the leading hotels in the city center. Time management was the most important key aspect for me to perform my business and perform smoothly. To grow my business, I started to hire more staff every quarter and took myself out of the service and started managing the business.
